Polish Act on Copyright and Related Rights.

5 June 1995

The rapid evolution of copying technology in the mid-1990s was the catalyst for KOPIPOL's creation. The Association was formed on 5 June 1995, mere days after the Act on Copyright and Related Rights came into effect. Just six months later, the Minister of Culture granted approval for collective copyright management. From that point onward, KOPIPOL has dedicated itself to supporting scientists. This mission is made possible by a strong alliance of various scientific institutions, universities, and regions throughout Poland. The visionary leadership of Professor Mieczysław Poniewski, the first and current president of KOPIPOL, has been instrumental in the Association's establishment and continued success.

International cooperation

KOPIPOL actively collaborates with international and national organizations to safeguard the rights of authors and publishers.

We participate in the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations (IFRRO), a network of over 150 organizations from 85 countries, facilitating collective rights management for millions of authors and publishers. At the international level, the Federation facilitates the collective management of reproduction rights and other rights to textual and graphic works. IFRRO members represent many millions of authors, visual artists, and book publishers. The KOPIPOL Association is also involved in cooperation with several European organisations.

Through effective international communication, KOPIPOL significantly influences European Union copyright legislation.
